A Coal Power Plant in Masinloc, Zambales has been having problems with the unplanned shutdown, high production and maintenance cost, and safety and environmental issues.
The plant’s machinery undergoes weekly manual lubrication which requires stop operation. This results in forced shutdown, unwanted downtime, and high maintenance cost. It is reported that the plant consumes more or less 200 liters of grease.
To counter the issues, the plant has been facing, LPI installed an Automatic Centralized Lubrication System (ZPU 02 Grease Pump). LPI also initiated a new lubrication storage handling system called 5S (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Systemize, Sustain). The team utilized metering valves to direct the lubricant with a control panel. Lastly, to strengthen the maintenance program of the plant, the team conducted training and seminar for the plant’s personnel.

After deploying the action plan, the plant was able to move forward with machine maintenance even in machine running mode. The clean lubricant has also been accurately applied to the machines at the right time and right point. Lastly, LPI’s maintenance program eliminated health, safety, and environmental issues stemming from excess and contaminated grease.
The plant is reported to have an estimated annual savings of Php. 638,520, after LPI’s installation of an Automatic Centralized Lube System. The plant’s personnel gained enhanced technical productivity and equipment maintenance processes skills to ensure machine performance and safety. All the safety issues were properly addressed by LPI’s maintenance service.
