A port in Manila faced significant challenges with lubricant handling, including oil contamination, incorrect lubricant usage, and increased lubricant consumption. These issues not only impacted efficiency but also posed risks to safety and the environment.

To tackle these issues head-on, the department proposed and implemented a dedicated lubricant storage and dispensing area at their motor pool. A designated lubrication bay was allocated, utilizing self-bunded storage tanks which eliminated the need for concrete bunding. Le Price was engaged to install dispensing pumps with in-line oil filters for each commonly used oil type, ensuring clean dispensing and reducing foreign particles. Dispensing hose reels with meters were also installed to accurately withdraw the exact volume of oil required by equipment.

System Benefits:

  • Elimination of oil contamination and mixing of lubricants.
  • Assurance of clean oil with each dispensing, minimizing external contact and reducing foreign particles through in-line oil filters.
  • Prevention of unnecessary oil withdrawals and wastage due to metered and precise dispensing.
  • Reduced risks to safety and the environment.

By establishing the centralized lubrication bay, they significantly improved their lubricant management processes, ensuring operational efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and enhancing workplace safety.
