A Port in Tondo, Manila has been having problems with oil contamination, delay of equipment servicing, shortage of lubricant supply, and high maintenance costs. The plant’s machinery undergoes weekly manual lubrication which requires stop operation. The mishandling of lubricants caused unwanted downtime, high maintenance costs, and health and safety risks.
LPI installed Lube Storage/Oil Stations to onsite service vehicles, double walling tank, dispensing pumps with inline oil filter, and dispensing hose. LPI also promoted proper tagging of each lubricant to prevent mixing and contamination. This will ensure the cleanliness of the lubricants. For the personnel, extensive training and seminar were provided to ensure plant and machine readiness.
The plant is reported to save up to 30% of oil consumption, 60% maintenance cost, and the consumption of the lubricant is being monitored properly. There is also an increase in the productivity rate after the installation of the Lube Storage solutions. Lastly, all health and safety risk was properly addressed with training that enhanced the operator’s technical knowledge.
