Avoid Turbine Trips in Gas & Steam Turbines

The CJC® Varnish Removal Unit, VRU, is intended to remove soluble varnish from oil with extreme efficiency. The VRU can be used for the following purposes:

  • Gas or steam turbines with a combined or separate
    lube and control oil system
  • Base or peak-loaded gas or steam turbines operating at
low, medium, or high oil temperatures
  • Gas Turbine Compressors
  • Highly stressed and hot-running lube oil or hydraulic oil systems

Benefits

No turbine trips or sticking valves due to varnish:

  • Extends the lifetime of both oil, additives, and components,
    e.g., bearings, valves, seals etc.
  • No need for system flushing and tank cleaning
  • MPC values at extremely low levels
  • More stable bearing temperature

Reduction to Safety Level
The varnish removal equipment will generally reduce the amount of varnish in your oil quickly, and your oil should be cleaner within weeks. Most turbines should attain safe MPC levels in less than 1-2 months of operation, depending on size and initial degree of pollution.

Function
The transfer pump on the CJC® Varnish Removal Unit draws hot oil from the lowest position of the system tank to the unit. The oil is passed through the effective CJC® Varnish Removal insert, VRi 27/27, mainly developed for varnish removal when used with the CJC® Varnish Removal Unit. The oil is restored to your system after cleansing.

Filtration Principles
The CJC® Varnish Removal Unit's improved filtering mechanism catches dissolved and suspended soft pollutants in the oil. The VRU unit is so efficient that the oil is returned to the system tank as virtually entirely varnish-free oil in only a single pass.
